Genetic alterations in the neuronal development genes are associated with changes of the tumor immune microenvironment in pancreatic cancer

Except for PTPRM and NBEA, genetic alterations involving these 20 genes are associated with significant changes in the densities of major immune cell subtypes. Except for AJAP1, the copy number loss involving this panel of neuronal development genes is significantly associated with changes in immune cell infiltrates. In contrast, the copy number gain in fewer genes, including NRXN3, ZNF667, ACSM3, C6, ADCY5, SCN9A, and PRKCE, is significantly associated with changes in immune cell infiltrates.

Painful tongue lesion as an initial presentation of metastatic pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma: a case report and review of the literature

This report presents a unique case of a 91-year-old man who initially presented with a painful tongue mass and ultimately was found to have metastatic pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. Comparison of a biopsy from the tongue mass and the pancreatic lesion showed they were morphologically identical and confirmed the diagnosis. Treatment of the tongue lesion with palliative radiation led to clinical improvement of difficulty and pain with swallowing.

Association of a genetic variant in the adenosine triphosphate transmembrane glycoprotein and risk of pancreatic cancer

In the current study, there was no significant difference between rs1045642 and sufentanil consumption (P>0.05), while previous investigation showed a positive association between the variation and PC. Pang et al., in 2014, investigated the potential relationship between the progression of PC and chemical resistance. In this study, 4 SNPs in different genes, including ABCB1, and the expression of 3 transporters were investigated in healthy and cancerous samples.

Why do we need a journal solely focused on the malignant diseases of the pancreas?

Pancreatic cancer has become the third leading cause of death from malignant diseases in both the United States and Europe. The incidence of pancreatic cancer is rising. Tremendous efforts have been devoted to basic and clinical research in pancreatic cancer. However, the outcome of pancreatic cancer has been minimally improved over the last thirty years. Such a profound sadness tells us that we should spend more efforts and be more focused on this disease. There had been no scientific journal that is solely focused on the malignant diseases of the pancreas. It is critical to have a media to rapidly disseminate research news and reports within the communities of pancreatic cancer researchers and have a venue to discuss the management strategies for pancreatic cancer among clinicians. This is why we are launching Annals of Pancreatic Cancer.
